What is the differentiation in learning plans and how are they applied?

At Academyati, every child is recognized as a unique learner. Our approach to personalized learning means we tailor each child’s learning plan to match their needs, interests, and pace of development. This is not just about supporting different academic levels, it’s about honouring how each child learns best, what excites them, and how they grow over time.
How it works
From the earliest years, teachers observe and document learning in close alignment with developmental goals, using tools like GOLD 38 and CEFR for Arabic. As students progress, we build a Personal Learning Profile (PLP) for each child. This evolving document includes their academic assessments, interests, strengths, and areas for growth. We also incorporate insights from student interviews, assessment data (such as MAP Growth testing, PM Benchmark, Read Write Inc phonics assessments, and other literacy and fluency tools), and teacher observations.
Assessment is both formative and ongoing, allowing us to identify gaps and target specific skills while continuing to spark curiosity through interest-based learning.
In primary years, we use AERO (for maths and English) and NGSS (for science) as guiding frameworks. These are complemented by regular literacy and numeracy assessments carried out two to three times a year, or as needed.
In high school, growth is measured through a competency-based framework. Students work towards earning credits, completing courses, and demonstrating mastery through evidence of learning. Their progress will be recorded using the MTC (Mastery Transcript Consortium) system, which presents a richer, skills-based profile of the learner that is valued by universities and future pathways.
A case study example
For instance, let’s take Sara, a Stage 3 learner who shows a strong interest in environmental science but needs extra support in reading fluency. Based on her MAP and PM Benchmark assessments, her teacher identifies specific literacy goals while also building a project around local ecosystems that ties into her interest. Sara leads a small-group inquiry project, develops her research and writing skills through real-world application, and presents her findings to the community. Meanwhile, fluency support is integrated into daily activities through targeted Read Write Inc sessions. All of this is tracked in her PLP, ensuring her growth is visible, measurable, and meaningful.
Beyond the classroom
We believe learning happens everywhere, not just in school. That’s why we are also developing a student portfolio that includes after-school activities (ASA), background information, assessment data, and evidence of learning at home and in the wider community. This holistic view ensures that all aspects of a child’s development are recognised and credited.
In short, differentiation at Academyati is a dynamic, evolving process grounded in care, data, and creativity.
Designed to help every learner thrive.
